Astrid Breel
Animateur at Oldfield School, Bath
After graduating with a BA degree in Drama & Theatre Studies with Archaeology, Astrid further developed her career as a performance artist, performer and educator with an MA in Performance Practice at the University of Chester.
Astrid has worked and performed with different performance companies such as Reactor and Exit Here, both within the UK and internationally. She also works with Reactor as an intern; doing research and helping develop projects. Her latest performance project, developed during a Post-Graduate Certificate in Arts Practice, has been performed in London, Manchester and Paris.
Astrid has taught at the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (now Glydwr University) as a sessional lecturer on the Theatre and Performance degree and was a cover drama teacher at Theatre Train in Loughborough, a performing arts school for young people aged 6-18.
Astrid’s work explores the semiotics of femininity, the performativity of gender and plays with audience interaction, including performances, interactive live art and installations. She is very interested in interactivity and participation within live art, and how this impacts on the audience, and has been accepted as a Doctoral student and the University of Bristol for 2010.
