Children’s Society Book

Through our work in Pimlico School, C&T helped children and young people from inner London to contribute to the UK’s biggest ever enquiry into the condition of childhood.

Using drama and digital media we helped young people express their thoughts and feelings about what it’s like to be growing up in the UK today. Along with contributions from children and young people all over the UK, these have been brought together into a major book entitled “A Good Childhood”.

The book explores the main influences affecting every child: family, friends, youth culture, values and schools, and it gives the facts on the state of childhood today. It has striking and imaginative proposals for how life could be made better for all children, whatever their background.

Paul Sutton, Artistic Director of C&T: “Too often adults talk about children - what’s wrong with them, what’s best for them - without talking to them. This book has the best pedigree: it’s driven by the contributions of thousands of children and young people, including some from C&T. We’re proud of their contribution to this book and hope it will make a difference.”
