Primary Schools
Exactly what happens?
C&T’s vision for the extended day is for fun but purposeful activity with outcomes that feed back to the classroom: development of PLaTS, self-confidence and creative ambition.
Both classroom and extended day activities draw upon our unique range of projects and processes, but in different ways:
In the classroom, they’re applied to support the curriculum and deliver your teachers’ existing learning objectives in more playful and creative ways. Teachers extend their practice in delivering a creative curriculum.
In the extended day, the emphasis is more on fun and engagement, but with the same underpinning pedagogies: learning is still happening.
The Mechanics
The Extended Day: Parents sign their children up for 6-week sessions. We alternate the target age-range every 6 weeks to reach the whole school. Children get a membership card and, on completion, a badge and certificate. School support is crucial: the better the groups recruit, the smaller the final cost to the school.
The Classroom: We work flexibly across your curriculum, identifying with you the areas that you want to develop and where we can best contribute. Objectives and evaluation strategies are agreed and delivered.
The Holiday Drama Week: Parents sign up for this week-long, all-day drama and media project in your school, ending with a public sharing of work.
Some schools choose to make their extra-curricular activity available to children from nearby schools.
