New York City Department of Education

C&T collaborates with New York City Department of Education, developing and delivering inclusive, arts-led learning through theatre, practical classroom digital tools and sustained professional development. Across collaborations including Living Newspaper and Push Pull, we have supported teachers to use applied theatre approaches that help young people explore real-world issues, build communication skills, and develop confidence through structured creative inquiry. A consistent focus has been ensuring these methods are accessible for diverse learners, including targeted Special Education practice that adapts activities, pacing, and scaffolding to different needs while maintaining high expectations and meaningful participation.

Alongside delivery, C&T has contributed to the development of assessment tools that make creative learning legible: simple, teacher-friendly frameworks that capture progress in areas such as collaboration, self-regulation, expressive communication, and reflective thinking, without reducing artistic work to narrow metrics. Central to this partnership is CPD for teachers—equipping educators with repeatable strategies, shared language, and practical resources so approaches are embedded beyond a single programme and can scale across settings.
