Schools

Our ‘Living Newspaper’ Story System mixes digital literacy and docudrama techniques to equip children & young people with the skills to critique the news, social media and online disinformation.

Learning Through Participation

C&T helps schools create meaningful learning experiences through theatre, storytelling and digital technology.

We design and deliver participatory Story Systems that place young people at the centre of learning. Through immersive creative experiences, learners explore ideas, solve problems, collaborate with others and contribute their own perspectives.

Whether delivered in classrooms, theatres, community spaces or digital environments, our work transforms learning from something students receive into something they actively shape.

What Are Story Systems?

Story Systems are participatory learning experiences that combine narrative, drama, digital technology and creative enquiry.

Rather than simply teaching information, Story Systems invite learners to enter a shared world, adopt roles, investigate challenges and make meaningful decisions. They can be delivered through workshops, performances, digital experiences, role-play, games, location-based learning and long-term creative projects.

This approach helps learners develop knowledge, confidence, creativity and agency while creating memorable educational experiences that connect with the real world.

Curriculum-Focused, Creativity-Led

Our programmes support learning across a wide range of curriculum areas, including:

  • English and Literacy

  • Drama and Performing Arts

  • History and Heritage

  • PSHE and Citizenship

  • STEM and STEAM

  • Digital Literacy

  • Cultural Education

  • Oracy and Communication

Every project is designed in collaboration with schools to ensure that creative exploration is connected to educational outcomes and local priorities.

Building Future Skills

The world young people are entering demands more than knowledge alone.

Our programmes help learners develop the skills increasingly valued by employers, universities and communities, including:

  • Creativity

  • Communication

  • Collaboration

  • Critical Thinking

  • Problem Solving

  • Digital Confidence

  • Leadership

  • Self-Expression

By combining creativity and technology, we create opportunities for learners to practise these skills in meaningful and engaging contexts.

A class of Year 4 students create an interactive learning resource about Ancient Rome to share with their peers in other Year 4 classes, using drama and Prospero.

Powered by Prospero

Many of our projects are supported by Prospero, C&T's digital participation platform.

Prospero enables us to extend learning beyond the classroom through interactive storytelling, mobile technology, digital portfolios, collaborative challenges, audience participation, GPS experiences and reflective learning activities.

This allows schools to combine face-to-face learning with digital participation in ways that are engaging, accessible and scalable.

Inclusion at the Heart of Practice

Accessibility and inclusion are central to everything we do.

We have extensive experience working alongside learning-disabled young people, neurodiverse learners and communities facing barriers to participation. Our projects are designed to provide multiple ways for learners to engage, contribute and succeed.

We believe every young person should have the opportunity to participate creatively and have their voice heard.
